Baja California Developing 185-MW Solar Project

Mexico’s Baja California is turning to concentrated solar power and photovoltaic installations with a new 185-MW solar project in the Laguna Salada area of Mexicali.

The bidding process is slated to begin in the coming months, Fracisco Orduno tells El Sol de Tijuana.

Orduna, director of the Energy Commission State, says the project is expected to involve around $800 million of investments.

Baja California is also developing a wind farm in La Rumorosa.  With a current installed capacity of 10 MW, the project is being expanded by 100 MW by 2016.
