Simple-cycle natural gas-fired power plant breaks ground

Medway Generating Station

Gemma Power Systems LLC received a limited notice to proceed to begin turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contract with Exelon West Medway II LLC for a simple-cycle natural gas-fired power plant in Massachusetts for $100 million.

The full notice to proceed is contingent upon Exelon receiving all regulatory approvals for the project. Exelon West Medway II, a subsidy of Exelon (NYSE: EXC), will build the new plant adjacent to Exelon’s existing 173-MW Medway Generating Station. The plant will use two, 100-MW GE (NYSE: GE) LMS100 combustion turbine generators. Construction and commissioning is scheduled for second quarter 2018.
