DTE Energy to build Metro Airport solar array

DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) started construction on a solar power array at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The new facility will use 2,700 solar panels on property owned by Morton Terminal Land Holdings LLC. The installation will generate 750 kW of electricity. DTE will construct, operate and maintain the array for 20 years.

The project is part of SolarCurrents, a program launched in 2009. DTE has installed nearly 10 MW of solar across 22 sites in southeastern Michigan.
