Consumers' Energy launches community solar program

Consumers Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), said it is moving forward with plans for a community solar program in Michigan.

The company announced it is launching Solar Gardens, a community solar program that will involve customers. Grand Valley State University in Ottawa County and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo County are potential solar project sites.

Construction on the sites is expected to begin in early 2016, with commercial operations scheduled for next year.
