A nuclear power reactor in the UK was shut down for a nine-week refurbishment project.
EDF Energy said the Torness B nuclear power plant was shut down for a statutory outage. More than 500 additional workers will be on site to carry out over 12,000 separate pieces of work. The work includes inspections inside of the reactor and installation of equipment, including exchanging two gas circulators and replacing turbine blades.
The maintenance period takes place every three years. Torness A is expected to operate throughout the outage.
