SCE issues RFO for additional emissions-free energy

Southern California Edison (SCE) launched a Request for Offers (RFO) to obtain renewable electricity from independent power producers as part of its Solar Photovoltaic Program (SPVP), designed to encourage energy production from rooftop solar photovoltaic facilities. SCE is seeking approximately 27-MW which represents the fifth and final solicitation for the program since it began in 2010. The program’s overall target is 125-MW.

“This fifth round of SPVP procurement continues SCE’s ongoing commitment to provide our customers with emissions-free energy,” said Colin Cushnie, vice president of Energy Procurement & Management for SCE. “We look forward to receiving offers from across our service territory and continuing progress toward California’s Renewables Portfolio Standard goal of delivering 33 percent renewable power by 2020.”

All purchase agreements are subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.

Last year, SCE provided 24 percent of its energy to customers from renewable sources.
