DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) awarded an outage services contract to GE Power & Water (NYSE: GE) through GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) and GE Power Generation Services (PGS) for the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant in Michigan.
GEH will provide outage and inspection services for the 1,170-MW boiling water reactor, while PGS will provide inspection and maintenance services to the main generator and six turbine valves. Both services will be done during a fall outage.
In April, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved a license to GEH to build and operate a 1,170-MW Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor on the proposed Fermi 3 site, but DTE has not made plans to build a new plant.
