K2 Wind Power Project enters operations in Ontario

The 270-MW K2 Wind Power Facility in Ontario entered commercial operations on May 29, 2015.

The K2 Wind Power Facility — owned and operated by Capital Power Corp., Capital Power LP, Samsung Renewable Energy Inc., and Pattern Energy Group LP — represents one of Canada’s largest wind projects. Additionally, Pattern Energy Group Inc. has agreed to acquire one third of the project from its affiliate Pattern Energy Group LP.
The site features 140 Siemens (NYSE: SI) 2.3-MW wind turbines and operates under a 20-year PPA with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

During peak construction, more than 500 workers were employed by the project. K2 Wind expects to have about 20 full-time operations and maintenance employees, and 10 seasonal positions.
