Entergy (NYSE: ETR) has extended a contract — worth more than $100 million — with Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) to refuel the utility’s fleet of boiling water reactors through 2021 at the utility’s FitzPatrick, Grand Gulf, Pilgrim and River Bend power plants.

GNF and its predecessor, a nuclear fuel division of GE (NYSE: GE), has provided several fuel reloads for Grand Gulf and River Bend, and has fueled Pilgrim and FitzPatrick since the plants entered operations in the 1970s.

In 2008 Entergy became the first utility to install reloads of the GNF2 fuel design. This spring, Entergy installed test assemblies for the GNF3 design at the River Bend power plant.

Fuel will be fabricated by GNF at its facility in Wilmington, N.C.
