Financing closes on Indiana wind energy project

Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Development) closed financing on the 150-MW Amazon Wind Farm in Indiana, formerly called the Fowler Ridge wind project.
The project has entered into a 13-year power purchase agreement with Amazon to supply electric grids that service Amazon Web Services Inc. datacenters. Mortenson Construction will manage construction of the project.
Siemens (NYSE: SI) will supply 65 SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines and 67 transformers for the project. The nacelles will be assembled at Siemens’ facility in Hutchinson, Kansas and the turbine towers will be sourced from Michigan and Wisconsin. Rotor blades will be manufactured in Fort Madison, Iowa, and the Mount Generation Step Up transformers are produced in the Siemens plant in Jackson, Mississippi. Commissioning is planned for the first quarter of 2016. Siemens Financial Services will also provide $150 million of construction financing for the wind project.
