RES to develop, construct battery energy storage project in Ohio

Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES) plans to develop and construct its sixth utility-scale battery energy storage project, Willey Battery Storage, in Hamilton, Ohio.

Upon completion, the six megawatt energy storage project will be owned by Sumitomo Corp., and will include three containers of lithium ion batteries manufactured by Toshiba, and three inverter units manufactured by Parker Hannifin.

The Willey Battery Storage project will provide frequency regulation service to PJM. RES’ RESolve energy storage platform will handle the monitoring, dispatch and control of the system.

To date, RES has 55.6-MW and 27.3-MWh of energy storage either in operation or under construction.
