MHI to jointly develop natural gas cogeneration system

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries natural gas cogeneration engine

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Toho Gas Co. Ltd. will jointly develop a new 450 kW natural gas cogeneration system for the Japanese market.

The newly designed gas cogeneration system has a generating efficiency of 42 percent and an overall efficiency of 81.5 percent. The system design was based off of the previously introduced 380 kW system, which was improved upon primarily through the optimization of combustion and the adoption of components enabling improved efficiency.

The companies plan to propose the gas cogeneration systems for use in hospitals, commercial facilities, office buildings, factories and other facilities.
