Entergy (NYSE: ETR)’s Indian Point nuclear power plant Unit 3 in New York shut down for a planned refueling outage.

The outage is expected to cost Entergy more than $50 million, including about $30 million on employee salaries. The refueling is expected to bring 1,000 additional workers to the site in addition to the 1,000 regular employees.

Unit 3 was generating electricity more than 99 percent of the time since it returned to service from a previous refueling outage in April 2013. Unit 2 continues to run at full power.
