 Farley nuclear power plant goes offline for scheduled outage

Workers at the Farley nuclear power plant in Alabama took Unit 1 offline for a scheduled refueling and maintenance outage.
Workers with Southern Nuclear (NYSE: SO) will perform upgrades to plant systems and components in addition to refueling the reactor and performing regular maintenance and testing. Each unit at Plant Farley requires refueling every 18 months. More than 800 additional workers with Westinghouse, Siemens (NYSE: SI), Williams and other project partners will be on site. Unit 2 will continue to operate while Unit 1 is offline.
