 Emerson awarded $76mn ultrasupercritical coal-fired automation project

Emerson Process Management, a subsidiary of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), was awarded a $76 million contract to automate a 910-MW generating unit at an ultrasupercritical coal-fired power plant in Poland.
 
Emerson will serve as the project’s main automation contractor and main electrical contractor, providing design, engineering, installation, commissioning and start-up support services for Tauron Wytwarzanie’s power plant. The clean-coal generating unit it expected to go online in 2019. Emerson will install its Ovation control system to monitor and control all major components of the new unit. The system will enable faster ramp-ups, optimized production and flexible operation. Emerson’s Pervasive Sensing technology includes a broad range of wired and wireless measurement instruments and analyzers to help staff maintain a comprehensive view of the unit’s operations.
 
Emerson has several power contracts in Poland, including the new 1,075-MW ultrasupercritical unit at the Kozienice Power Station.
