Nuclear power developer names fmr. NRC commissioner as legal counsel


Nuclear power manufacturer Terrestrial Energy Inc. named Jeffrey Merrifield as legal counsel to its International Advisory Board.
Merrifield is an attorney who previously served as a commissioner on the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and as a senior executive for Shaw Group and Chicago Bridge & Iron (NYSE: CBI). He is a partner with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, which was also named as Terrestrial’s legal counsel.
Merrifield was appointed by President Clinton and reappointed by President Bush to serve on the NRC from October 1998 to June 2002 and from August 2002 to June 2007. He also served as the Senior Vice President of Global Business Development with CB&I’s Power Business Unit. He received his juris doctorate from Georgetown University and his B.A. from Tufts University.
