MHPS GAC-series gas turbine tops 8,000 hours of operation

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems MHPS GAC-Series gas turbine tops 8,000 hours of operation Japan J-Series

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd. (MHPS) said its 412-MW GAC-Series gas turbine surpassed 8,000 hours of operation in a Japanese turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant.

The GAC-series gas turbine is one of MHPS’s mainstay product lineups, together with the J-series model. Exceeding 8,000 hours of cumulative operation is taken as a benchmark for demonstrating a gas turbine’s reliability. The GAS series was launched into the market in 2009. To date, MHPS has received orders for a total of 27 units: 15 for U.S. customers, four for Canada, three for Korea and five for Japan.

The GAC-series model can produce 270 MW of output within 10 minutes of start up with higher than 39 percent efficiency and a ramping rate over 50 MW per minute.
