Dominion VA Power plans 400 MW of solar power

Dominion Virginia Power solar power projects Remington Power Station

Dominion Virginia Power (NYSE: D) is planning to develop several large-scale solar power projects totaling 400 MW of electricity across Virginia.

The projects will be built in the state using Virginia-based companies. They are expected to be completed by 2020. The utility said it plans to invest $700 million into the projects and is currently looking for construction sites through a site-selection process that includes evaluating the slope and terrain of the land, as well as other electrical and environmental factors.

In January, Dominion announced that it filed an application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission to build the state’s first large-scale solar project, a 20-MW project near the Remington Power Station. The utility currently has 744 MW of solar capacity in development, under construction or in operation across seven states.
