Toshiba has announced that Ali Azad will serve as the first president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Toshiba America Energy Systems Corp. (TAES).
Before joining Toshiba, Azad was president of BHI Energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University. He currently serves as chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s supplier advisory board.
Toshiba previously announced the formation of TAES, a new U.S.-based company that integrates the strengths of Toshiba International Corp.’s (TIC) thermal and hydro power business, Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corp.’s (TANE) steam turbine and generator (STG) business for nuclear power systems, and Westinghouse Electric Co.’s (WEC) STG business for nuclear power systems. TAES will reinforce the STG business for new power plants and the service and maintenance business for existing plants.
TAES will begin operations on April 1, 2015 and employ approximately 500 people.
