Special inspections begin at River Bend nuclear power plant

River Bend nuclear power plant Louisiana Entergy unplanned shutdown

Workers with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) began a special inspection at the River Bend nuclear power plant in Louisiana following an unplanned shutdown.

The plant was operating at 85 percent capacity on Christmas when an unplanned shutdown happened. After the shutdown, there were problems with the feedwater system and several electrical circuit breakers.

NRC inspectors will spend about a week on site evaluating Entergy (NYSE:ETR)’s root cause analysis, adequacy of corrective actions and maintenance of some plant systems.
