NuScale Power signed an agreement with Areva for the performance of fuel design, testing and analysis services for Areva’s HTP fuel technology.

Included in the agreement are Areva’s nuclear testing capabilities, including critical heat flux testing, steam generator flow-induced vibration testing, and control rod assembly drop alignment testing.

NuScale is developing a 45-MW modular reactor that received a $217 million cost-sharing deal over five years with the U.S. Department of Energy and supporting company Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR). NuScale is also working on its first project, the Western Initiative for Nuclear, in partnership with the Utah Associated Municipal Supply System consortium and Energy Northwest. The project is scheduled to begin operations in 2023.
