Entergy adds new gas-fired power plant in Louisiana

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Entergy Louisiana (NYSE: ETR) added a new 560-MW power plant to its fleet with the completion of the Ninemile 6 combined-cycle gas turbine unit in Westwego.

Entergy Gulf States Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans Inc. will purchase 25 percent and 20 percent of the new unit's output.

The unit represents the most modern and energy-efficient generator in the company's portfolio, utilizing state-of-the-art pollution controls and combined-cycle turbine technology to produce highly efficient, clean and reliable power.

The estimated cost of the plant is approximately $655 million.
