Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett broke ground on the 829-MW natural-gas fueled power plant, the Panda Liberty project in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
The facility will be one of the cleanest natural gas-fueled power plants in the U.S. and will utilize state-of-the-art emissions-control technology.
“We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars here precisely because Governor Corbett and other Commonwealth officials have been far sighted in developing Pennsylvania’s abundant natural resources,” said Todd W. Carter, president and senior partner of Panda Power Funds.
The governor was joined by state and local officials, including Sen. Gene Yaw and Rep. Tina Pickett, as well as officials from Panda Power Funds.
The plant is expected to reach operation in 2016.
Panda Power Funds specializes in the development, acquisition, construction financing and operation of large-scale, natural gas-fueled power generation facilities.
