Solar power project to use Emerson control system

Emerson Process Management (NYSE: EMR) was contracted to supply its Ovation expert control system at the 110 MW Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project near Tonopah, Nev.

The project will use the technology to directly control the circuit and heating process of the molten salt system, the water/steam cycle and auxiliary processes. The control system will provide supervisory control of the mirrors and interface with the turbine control system.

Tonopah Solar Energy LLC, an affiliate of SolarReserve LLC, is developing the project. Cobra Thermosolar Plants Inc. is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2013.
