Heavy nuclear components at Taishan 1 successfully installed

The heavy components in reactor 1 at China’s Taishan nuclear plant have been successfully installed, according to an EDF press release. The milestone was crossed with the installation of the reactor vessel, four steam generators and the pressurizer inside the reactor building.

The Taishan nuclear power plant, located in Guangdong province, will eventually have two 1,700 MW pressurized water reactors in operation. The project is a joint venture between France’s EDF and Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, a Chinese company.
