Hardide Coatings, an advanced surface coating company, has been selected by EDF Energy to provide coatings that will extend the life of the 15 MW boiler feed pump system valves at the Hinkley Point B nuclear power plant in Somerset, UK, according to a press release.

“Spare valve cover guide sleeves have also been ordered and these will be deployed onto the other unit in the near future,” said Graham Young, an engineer with EDF Energy, adding, “We are also evaluating Hardide for other applications within EDF Energy.”

“We are working with EDF Energy on other opportunities and look forward to developing a long and productive working relationship,” said Hardide Coatings CEO Phil Kirkham, in a statement.
