First Solar acquires Chilean solar developer

First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) completed its acquisition of Solar Chile from Fundacion Chile on Jan 9. Solar Chile is a solar development company based in Santiago.

Solar Chile has a portfolio of early- to mid-stage utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects totaling about 1.5 GW in four regions in northern Chile.

As part of the agreement, the five-person Solar Chile team is joining First Solar, and Fundacion Chile will provide ongoing consultation services.
