The United Kingdom government said it will finance a new nuclear power plant on the Welsh island of Anglesey.

According to Wales Online, the government signed an agreement with Hitachi and Horizon to work toward an in-principle guarantee by the end of 2016 to finance the new build at the Wylfa plant. The announcement was part of the government’s National Infrastructure Plan which says that the Wylfa and Hinkley Point nuclear power plants “have the ability to set the path for other projects in the Government’s civil nuclear strategy.”

The government announced in October that it would build a new nuclear plant at Hinkley Point C in England.
