Siemens Energy has installed the installation of a gas-insulated high-voltage line for the world’s highest damn wall at the Jinping Hydropower Plant located in in the Liangshan Yi district of the Sichuan province in China.

The Jinping I Hydropower Plant connected to China’s grid in August 2013.

With a capacity of 3.6 GW, this is Yalong River Hydropower Development Company the third hydropower plant to go put into operation since 2000.

To transport electricity from the dam to the city, power is carried from the turbines, located in the cavern of the power plant, then to the overhead transmission lines. To accomplish this, Siemens installed three, three-pole GIL systems, that transits up to 3500 megavolt ampere (MVA) of power at a voltage of 550 kV.
