PG&E to pay $158M to 49 California Counties

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) paid more than $158 million in property taxes to the California counties where the utility operates.

Forty-nine counties received the first of two installments, representing property taxes from July 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013.

PG&E will make the second payment on April 10 for property taxes from January 1, 2014 through June 30, 2014. 

An increase on PG&E's infrastructure investments caused the utility's property tax in increase by more than $2 million from the previous year. According to PG&E, investments were used to improve electric and gas safety, reliability and capacity.

The counties to receive payments are:
