Valard Construction, a Quanta Services company, will install two 315kV alternating current (AC) transmission lines in Labrador, Canada, for Nalcor Energy's Muskrat Falls Project.
Each line will run 155 miles and will connect Nalcor Energy's 824 MW Muskrat Falls hydroelectric generating facility, currently under construction, with a 5,428 MW hydroelectric facility and electricity infrastructure in Churchill Falls.
Jim O'Neil, president and chief executive officer of Quanta Services stated that once the project is complete, reliable and clean electricity will be delivered to Newfoundland, the Maritime Provinces and the U.S.
The Muskrat Falls transmission project is expected to be completed in Spring 2016.
