Iowa wind energy projects to use Siemens turbines

MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. purchased 448 Siemens (NYSE: SI) wind power turbines for five projects in Iowa.

The 2.3 MW turbines will be used at the 500 MW Highland, the 250 MW Lundgren, the 138.6 MW Wellsburg, the 117 MW Macksburg and the 44 MW Vienna II wind projects, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Siemens will build nacelles and hubs at its Kansas facility and rotors and blades at its Iowa facility.
