Capital Power, Enmax to build natural gas-fired power plant in Canada

Capital Power and Enmax will jointly develop, construct, own and operate the Genesee 4 & 5 natural gas-fired power plant in Alberta, Canada.

The plant will have a generation capacity of up to 1,050 MW and will be built near Capital Power’s Genesee coal-fired power plant located west of Edmonton. Capital Power will lead construction and will operate the plant.

Joint venture agreements are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014. Construction is scheduled for completion between 2018 and 2020.
