Appalachian Power to purchase unit at John Amos facility

Appalachian Power will purchase the third coal-fired unit at the John Amos facility for $565 million.

West Virginia regulators approved the request Friday.

Appalachian Power already owns two of the units at the 2,900MW facility.

West Virginia regulators did postpone a possible merger of Wheeling Power and Appalachian Power’s request to buy half of the Mitchell coal-fired generating plant in Moundsville, according to the Associated Press.
