Wood Group reduces NOx emissions at Ohio power plant

Wood Group GTS said it has achieved a 45 percent reduction of NOx as part of a turnkey NOx performance project at an unnamed power plant in Ohio.

The work on the GE (NYSE: GE) Frame 5P gas turbine included a water injection skid, fuel nozzles and liner caps. Also installed was a ring water manifold with the appropriate check valves, flame scanners and a lube oil temperature transmitter to ensure system function and long-term reliability.

The black start coal plant was being re-permitted for commercial operation as a peaking unit. EPA required that the plant reduce its NOx emissions from 119 ppm to 65 ppm in order to allow the permitting change. The upgrade was completed during a scheduled 10-day outage period.
