Hitachi to supply equipment for Malaysian ultrasupercritical coal-fired thermal plant

Hitachi Ltd will provide the steam turbine, generator and boiler for an ultra-supercritical coal-fired thermal plant project in Malaysia, the company announced today. The 1,000 MW plant is being constructed under a turn-key order by a consortium made of Sumitomo Corp. and Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd.

Hitachi stated in a release the technology will allow the plant to reduce CO2 emissions with highly efficient power generation. The company is aiming to actively participate in the large number of new coal-fired thermal power plants expected to be constructed in Southeast Asia in the future.
