The global distributed energy generation (DEG) market is expected to grow from $99.68 billion in 2011 to $155.86 billion in 2018, according to a report from Transparency Market Research.
According to TMR, energy demand has increased substantially over the past decade and is expected to continue to increase in the next five to six years, according to the report, while insufficient centralized electricity supply, increased interest in green energy technology, rising industry awareness and revised Feed in Tariff rates are expected to spur market groth. In addition, TMR stated that while the cost of DEG is currently an obstacle, the price of the systems is expected to drop over the next few years.
North America DEG market revenues are expected to reach $37.33 billion in 2018, according to the report. The report also notes that Europe has dominated the DEG system market and accounted for more than 39 percent of global DEG installations in 2011.
