Alstom will supply two turbine-generator units for Hydro-Québec’s La Romaine 3 power house in a contract worth more than $87 million. The power house is one of four new power houses that will make up the 1,550 MW La Romaine hydroelectric complex, located north of the municipality of Havre-Saint-Pierre.
The company will supply two 200 MW vertical Francis turbine-generator units with butterfly valves and regulation systems. Alstom will also install and commission the equipment at the site.
The design of the turbines, generators and auxiliaries, along with the project management, will be led by a team from Alstom’s North American hydro headquarters and factory in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec.
Alstom had previously signed a contract for two 320 MW turbine-generator units for La Romaine 2, meaning Alstom equipment will account for two-thirds of the total power generation at the La Romaine complex.
