Westinghouse appoints Douglas Weaver as VP of nuclear regulatory affairs

Westinghouse Electric Co. announced that Douglas Weaver has been appointed as vice president for nuclear regulatory affairs.

In this position, Weaver will be responsible for maintaining relationships with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, its staff who license and regulate the nation’s commercial nuclear power plants and fuel cycle facilities, and other regulatory stakeholders.

According to a Westinghouse press release, Weaver has more than 25 years of leadership and management experience within the US Navy, the NRC and the private sector. He served as vice president for licensing and regulatory affairs with Holtec International and prior to that was deputy director of the NRC’s Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation division. Prior to joining the NRC, Weaver was an officer in the U.S. Navy.
