Testing & commissioning of carbon capture system deemed successful

Akermin carbon capture system Biocatalyst Delivery System National Carbon Capture Center Alabama carbon dioxide CO2

Akermin successfully commissioned and tested its proprietary Biocatalyst Delivery System at the National Carbon Capture Center in Alabama.

The pilot project has operated for several weeks capturing nearly 90 percent of carbon dioxide (CO2) from flue gas with no degradation, Akermin said in a release.

The plant will continue to operate for several months with no replenishment of enzyme. The operating data provide technical and economic validation for CO2 removal and support larger-scale field pilot testing for natural gas- and coal-fired power plants.
