GE opens wind energy services center in Brazil

GE opens wind energy services center Bahia Brazil

GE (NYSE: GE) opened a wind energy services center in Bahia, Brazil on June 27. The facility enables GE to put local expertise to work in developing wind energy.

The service center is a $1.5 million investment and will employ more than 100 technicians. Engineers there will monitor wind operations and weather, as well as dispatch local technicians to wind farms for maintenance projects. The workers will focus on GE’s 1.6-82.5 and 1.85-82.5 wind turbines.

To date, GE has 450 wind turbines installed in Brazil and the company is expected to be the top wind turbine supplier in the country by the end of the year with more than 1 GW installed.
