Bechtel to perform nuclear generator replacement work for FirstEnergy

FirstEnergy Beaver Valley nuclear power plant Pennsylvania Bechtel steam generator replacement work Unit 2 Davis-Besse

Bechtel will provide engineering, procurement and construction services to replace three steam generators at the 904 MW Unit 2 of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co.’s (FENOC) Beaver Valley nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. Bechtel replaced three steam generators in Unit 1 in 2006.

Engineering work will begin immediately on the project, with full site mobilization in late 2016 and generator replacement in March 2017. Steam generators work as heat exchangers to produce the superheated steam that is used to drive the turbine generator in a pressurized water reactor.

Bechtel will also replace steam generators at FENOC’s Davis-Besse nuclear power plant in Ohio.
