Simulator installed at nuclear power plant in Argentina

Embalse nuclear power plant Argentina L-3 MAPPS simulator Candu 6 reactor

L-3 Mapps puts its full scope simulator at the Embalse nuclear power plant in Argentina into service back in March.

The simulator will  support operator training for the 600 MWe Candu 6 pressurized heavy water reactor at the site, which went into commercial operation on January 20, 1984. Since then, L-3 Mapps has developed the technology, including plant models, emulation of redundant plant computer systems and advanced compact input/output systems, all of which were applied to the simulator.

The full scope simulator includes the Orchid simulation environment running on a PC/Windows platform.
