PNM begins construction of N.M. solar power project

The Public Service Company of New Mexico, a unit of PNM Resources (NYSE: PNM), began construction its 7.5 MW Otero County Solar Energy Center this week, according to a report from McClatchy. The $17 million project is located north of Alamogordo, N.M.

According to the report, the company will install solar panels later this summer and will have the facility online by the end of the year.

The facility, which is located on a 70 acre site and has 101,250 solar panels located on about 54 acres, is PNM’s second photovoltaic solar power site to be constructed in the Alamogordo area and eighth in New Mexico, according to McClatchy.
