NY state government to award $46mn in financing for solar power projects

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced last week the state will be awarding $46 million to help finance 76 large-scale solar power projects, according to a report from the Utica Observer-Dispatch.

The funds will go to 27 recipients for projects at businesses, factories, municipal buildings and other large energy users and provide 52 MW of solar power capacity, according to the report. The projects will use a combination of public and private dollars and will be operational by the end of 2013.

The money, which comes from the state’s NY-Sun initiative, was awarded on a competitive basis.
