Kewaunee nuclear power plant Dominion Energy Wisconsin NRC issued violation

Dominion Energy, a unit of Dominion Resources (NYSE: D), was issued a violation from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the Kewaunee nuclear power plant in Wisconsin. The NRC classified the incident as a white finding, or having a low to moderate safety significance.

NRC inspectors said the plant failed to identify the loss of an indicator to monitor system and effluent parameters for accurately classifying and declaring a general emergency and a site area emergency.

Kewaunee will move from Column 1 to Column 2 of the NRC’s Action Matrix, leading to additional inspection. Dominion said it would decommission the plant in 2013 and announced layoffs would start May 31.
