Broadwind Energy signs $34mn wind tower order

Broadwind Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: BWEN) received a $34 million order for towers from an unnamed U.S. wind manufacturer. The towers will be built at Broadwind’s Abilene, Texas facility for delivery to begin in late 2013 and into 2014.

The company recently sold its idle tower plant in Brandon, S.D. for $11.7 million. The plant was put up for sale as part of the company’s plan to reduce its manufacturing footprint by 600,000 square feet. With the closing, it was reduced 400,000 square feet.
