Bechtel picked as EPC for Texas natural gas fired power project

Bechtel announced that it was chosen as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the 758 MW Panda Temple II combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant in Temple, Texas.

Bechtel will be responsible for project management, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the Panda Temple II plant, while Siemens will provide the power-island package, including the natural gas and steam turbines and waste heat recovery boilers. The plant is expected to be completed at the end of 2015.

This is the third natural gas-fired power plant to be built by Bechtel and consortium partner, Siemens (NYSE: SI). The other two plants are the Panda Temple I and the Panda Sherman Power Plant in Sherman, Texas. All of the plants are identical in size.
