SPX to supply equipment for gas-fired power plant in Israel

SPX Corp. (NYSE: SPW) said that its Thermal Equipment and Services unit was awarded a $35 million contract from Alstom to supply an air-cooled condenser for a planned 835 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant in Israel.

The Tzafit power plant will use two, 417 MW gas-fired combined cycle units and is expected to be the country’s largest privately-owned power plant. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2014.
