Indianapolis Power & Light to add more than 30 solar power projects

Indianapolis Power & Light announced Monday that customers and developers are planning to add more than 30 new solar power projects, adding nearly 100 MW to the total solar power under contract by IPL.

The company has filed agreements for the projects with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for approval. The projects range in size, from a pair of 20 KW projects at an apartment complex to two 10 MW arrays at the Indianapolis International Airport. Another project, a 9.6 MW solar farm at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, was announced last week.

IPL customers currently own or host 2.1 MW of solar power generation through projects completed with eight commercial and industrial customers in its service territory, according to the company. If all planned projects are completed, the company stated it would likely rank first in the central region for solar generation.
